I am pretty sure, I am the only runner who did not run yesterday for National Running Day. Now, in my defense, I did not know this day existed until yesterday, and if I had known, I would of planned my week differently.
I had to listen to my body and make yesterday a rest day. I am glad I did. Today, is a beautiful day and I got in 4.13 miles. The run was pleasant but I was really wishing I had some company. Running with TNT on Sunday's really is fun and I need to get a regular running buddy for the other days. Any volunteers?
I used my new Nathan handheld water bottle for the first time today. I was having a lot of trouble with my fuel belt staying in place and just gave up on it. I like the handheld, especially after I realized how to hold it properly. Yes, that is right, one mile in and a light bulb went on. "Hey dummy, your hand and fingers go around the the bottle not the strap!" Of course!
If you judged your running years like school grades, I would just be finishing my kindergarden year, hence, not knowing how to hold a bottle. There is so much to learn and so many miles to go yet. It is all good though and I am having fun with it all.
I got a couple more runners signed up for my race, but I hope more will consider joining us for a nice fun run for a good cause anywhere you want, bling included!
Lastly, I have decide to not drink while I am training. I had two drinks the other night and just felt like crap the next day. I don't like that. So, my glass of wine with dinner or my couple of beers on the weekends are now over until after October. I think I can do this, wish me luck.
OK, so tell me, who else did not run yesterday? Do you run with water, what do you use? How many years have you been a runner and are you still learning new things? Do you drink while training?
Run strong, think big!
Glad you got in a good run today! I hate carrying things when I run, but I need to start carrying water on my long runs. I end up feeling really dehydrated if I don't. I have been running for 9 years and I am still learning lots of new things. Love your water bottle story. Sounds like something I would do:) Can't wait for your race!
ReplyDeleteSo glad you are doing the race! I am not really a fan of holding things either, but it is necessary the longer I go.
DeleteLove my handheld water bottle. Glad you found one you like! It'll definitely be a necessity now that the weather's warming up.
ReplyDeleteYes, need it so much more now than a couple months ago.
DeleteEveryone is so different, whether they prefer the belts or the handhelds... glad you're finding what works for you! I did one easy mile, it wasn't supposed to be a running day for me yesterday too, but I'm attempting this streak... not sure how long I"ll last, my legs are starting to speak up and I definitely don't want to risk injury!
ReplyDeleteI don't think I could do one of those streaks but then again, I didn't think i would be a runner either. Good luck with it!
