FirmMan, HaHa, Yeah Right!

When I out lined my year of races in this post, I mentioned how I wanted to volunteer at a race.  I think this would be a fun thing to do, as well as giving back a little.  I have thought about this a lot, not sure about which race I would want to do this at.

My first thought was Rock and Roll Providence, which is on my racing bucket list, but then I saw this.  A half Iron Man in the town that I live.  Now, that is the one for me.

I think most of you know by now, that I can't swim.  Not only can't I swim, I have a small irrational fear of the water.  Not so much in a pool, more like the ocean.  Since my injury, I have decide to learn to swim and get over it!  I found a place that gives adult lessons and I will be doing that soon.  I think I am more excited than scared so I am looking at that as half way to getting over my fear.

I see some tri's in my future,  maybe including, this FirmMan.  (Are you happy now MB? Not only did I put it in writing, it is floating around the blogosphere!)

Anyway, I will let you know when I hear back from them and what they say.

Run strong, think big!

  1. yay for volunteering! That race is one of the ones I was considering for my 70.3. I'd love to volunteer at a race, it seems like Im too busy racing or training. Have fun!

  2. Wow, the pool. They told me to do some work in the pool when I started PT, but, I am not a pool person. Read: have you seen me in a bathing suit?
Good for you! Would it be rude to say, "You go first and tell me how it is"? :) You have inspired me to think about doing some work in the pool.

    1. Ha Ha, no not rude at all. I'll let you know how it goes every horrible step of the way. LOL One of my greatest friends does tri's and every since I started running, she has tried to motivate me to learn to swim and join her. This race is on her bucket list and this year she is putting together a relay team to do it and then on her own the following year. Having this injury has given me the chance to learn, so here I go.

  3. I love that you're gonna learn how to swim! I'm a terrible swimmer, but swam a lot when pregnant, and am trying to get back in the pool now while my ankle heals.

    1. Thanks Teamarcia! If it weren't for this injury, I don't think I would be doing this. I guess I should look at it as a blessing.
